How I Organize my Go-To Rack + What I keep on it for Pre-fall

Oh how I love having a go-to rack for my favorite pieces of clothes. When I'm running late or need to rush out the door I can just grab one of my go-to pieces and go. You're probably thinking " what in the world is a Go-to Rack?"
Well let me start by saying, it's the best thing I've ever had & I highly suggest one for any girl who has her fav go-to pieces.
When I lived at my parent's house I never had an actual closet *GASP*. So I literally had 2 dressers, a clothing rack, and tons of baskets filled with clothes. So when I moved into my apartment you can only imagine how life changing having my own walk-in closet was. Which left me with my clothing rack that I just kept in the bedroom.
I noticed whenever I was rushing to get ready I would just grab something off of my clothing rack, rather than spending forever trying to make a decision from the hundreds of pieces in my closet. Eventually I designated my little rack to being my "go-to rack". Viola! That’s a “go-to rack”.
I usually switch out pieces or add new pieces every other week. This way I have my favorite pieces already out and ready to go everyday and I’m not always wearing the same things for a month straight. Don’t get me wrong, I have my favorites that get quite a bit of love’n, but I also like to keep things fresh and rotating around.

I recently just organized my go-to rack with my favorite transitional pieces for fall. I also have my favorite pre-fall shoes all organized at the bottom, so there's no spending time trying to find shoes to complete the look, I have my favorites right below.

I wanted to share a bit of helpful tips and tricks about how I try to keep things organized on my clothing rack. Plus some of my current transitional favorites!

How I decide to Organize my clothes

I'm a bit OCD when it comes to putting things in order. For my clothes I usually go by color, then length. So try to put my shorter pieces (tanks, blouses, mini dresses) in front of my longer pieces (cardigans, midi dresses, maxi dresses). Then when I sort that out I move pieces around by color but still keeping my lengths somewhat in order. Of course you don't have to be as crazy as I am, but that's how I do my go-to rack, that way it keeps the shoes visible.
I also keep out pieces that I know I can do pretty much anything in and style anyways. If I need to run to the store, if I'm rushing to meet with wedding vendors, take blog pictures, or out to church, then I can just grab something right off the rack and go without sorting through my actual closet. This has litterally become a time saver, especially when I wake up late or am trying to rush in blog photos before a storm comes rolling in... Alabama weather, gotta love it!

When it comes to sorting out clothes , I recommend just organizing it however you like it to show. There’s no right or wrong way to display your clothes. Also, make sure to put out pieces you know you you can just throw on and go or that you’ll actually want to wear.
I was the Queen of changing my outfits 50 times before stepping out the door. But when I started putting items out that I knew I would wear and feel comfortable in everyday, that’s when I started to realize how much time it saves.

What shoes I decide to keep out

Right now I have quite the variety of shoes because my heart really wants to go straight to fall, but mother nature is like "nahhh gf". So I have some sandals that are cognac colored or can work with my transitional pieces well. This way I still have the look of fall without adding extra sources of heat since it’s still summer.
I also have some mules because I LOVE mules. The two I have out right now actually work well with the pre-fall attire I have picked out.
I of course have a pair of heels and wedges because they are a more dressier choice and I like to have them at a quick and easy access if running out the door for a photo shoot.
I have one pair of sneakers for a more casual look for a night out at a local hangout.
Then I have a couple pairs of booties because I can't help but want to wear them out for an extra touch of fall inspiration in my OOTD.

I would say the shoes you have out should be ones According to the season. Also, they should be pairs you can work with the pieces you have out at that time.
I actually let mine get a little crazy over time. I had piles of shoes, which really didn’t save me time when trying to get ready because I had to dig for matches. So keeping just a few out and switching them out frequently is key to keeping things clean and organized.

Choice of quick accessories

Some days I'm rushing to get ready and notice...DANG my hair is greeeaaassy... So I of course have to find a hat to throw on to cover that up. I also just love completing any look with a stylish hat. That’s why I will always have at least two hats available to top off my looks.
If you'r not a hat person you can choose headbands, bags, bandanas, what ever your style preferences are, you can keep right on hand on your go-to rack.
I've also really got into belts lately, like waist belts to add something extra to a basic dress or even just a pop of something fun for simple tee and jeans day. I keep two completely different belt on my rack, that way finishing off a simple look is super quick and easy.

I recommend keeping items that can be worn with a lot of your daily looks. So a neutral headband instead of a neon yellow one. Unless you love neon yellow and all your OOTDs are centered around it, then yes definitely keep it out. But, if you have one look you maybe wear it with, then that might be something you don’t put out just so things don’t get cluttered and piled up.. Again, that’s just me though, I’m just a bit of an organization freak.

I hope these tips and tricks will help with anyone who is looking to save time when in a rush, plus have a cute little wardrobe display.
Just a little side note, if you choose pieces that are seasonal it really helps give the room that seasonal flare without even decorating. Right now my room has a bit of a fall look to it and I don’t even have any fall decor in that room, it’s just the illusion my wardrobe gives off.
Crazzyyy!

I've linked different pieces above that I currently have on my go-to rack. So if you see something you like, and want to add to yours, you can do so by clicking on the product images. I've also linked my exact rack plus some other items I think you'll love. I can’t wait to see how you styled yours for fall!
happy shopping friends!

There's nothing I want more today but just be inspired. Maybe the stars are aligned in a way that negativity can easily be swept on the sides. They are still there, we can't really get rid of it that fast. But just like when we are taking anti depressant medication, our running thoughts are still there, we can still sense it but it's as if it was restrained and couldn't interfere with our work. This is exactly what I am feeling right now. Somebody says I was her happy pill. I guess she is also my happy pill.
